For all those ambitious people amongst us we now have the Foal training course! Of course this is completely optional and if you want, you can skip right onto the Horse Course!

We require only five images to complete the foal course. However, feel free to make as many as you like!

MANDATORY TRAINING:
1.1. Weaning from the Mother
1.2. First time eating hay in an seperate box*
2. Wearing a Halter
3. To be lead
4. Accepting the feel of a blanket
5. Foal Inspection

*This is mainly for wild horses, horses without their moms and youngstock between the age of 1 and 3

Are you done with your mandatory images? Well, we would love to see these as well! Show off those foals and get them ready for their future careers!

OPTIONAL TRAINING:
1. Standing tied
2. Accepting the presence of objects (paper bags, clippers, sprays etc...)
3. Being groomed for the first time
4. Walking over an uneven surface
5. Play time

Feel free to add as many images as you like, be as creative as you can and maybe even make some images we didn't mention!

You may show your foal doing anything, as long as it fits in the category. For example, your foal doesn't have to accept the blanket right away! Is he a sweet, trusting thing that just accepts it and goes back to begging for cuddles? or is it a little devil that won't stop trying to get the scary thing of it's back? it is all possible, so be as creative as you can!

The final image is the most important of this list. Your foal will be inspected by a vet and shown off to all future rivals! Do you draw your foal showng off it's gaits? Or has the vet just arrived to closely examine the little thing? This inspection will not only make your foal familiar with vets and being touched when you show it in a big competition, but will also make it familiar with strange places, lots of noise and big crowds cheering him on.

The final image counts as a show entry (halter class) and will be added to our graduation hall of fame! The foals also recieve a special ribbon and diploma; showing that they succesfully enrolled this program!

I have an Equine Angels Rescue foal and I was going to do playtime featuring my other filly, who I would like to enroll in equiBREAK (Not the rescue just the other filly) Could the playtime image for Equine Angels Rescue also count for this program as long as it's a new drawing and, of course, showing the horse who would be in equiBRAKE?

Yes. As long as the image follows our group rules and it's stated in the image description that it's also for our program :)

Short question.
I got those two horse imports who are both 5 according to import sheets. They haven't been showed yet and aren't officially broken in.
Can I still do a 'back date' foal course with them? I would really love to do it but I wanted to ask first if it's possible.

Can I use some interpretation to mandatory images? Say weaning was an accidental separation:roll: Can I show something along those lines? Probably fleshed out in a little story?

As long as the mandatory images fit into one of the categories, the interpretation and creativity is up to you! We try to balance having a set structure and allowing everyone to draw the way they want.

questionnnnnn, so I have a filly to complete this however in my stables storyline she's bought unbacked but handled, can my affiliate do the pictures like the filly is at their yard and submit it even though the ref is mine, and then she will join the horse programme as usual?

I'm not 100% sure what your question is. But up to 2 images per program are allowed to be done by someone other than the owner of the horse. The images must still follow our group rules. Does that answer your question?

well the horse was a gift, but both of us are brining her on, she is owned by my friend for her foal life, but her horse life will be owned by Promise Wood Stables, so she wants to do the foal equibreak for her so it ties in with our storylines, this is unpaid and volunteered work

Sorry if you have said this before in a previous statement or journal, but can I draw two foals training together. Example being, these two foals are the same age and are being weaned together so they are being taught together.

For weaning from the mother, how should one depict it if their foal was imported? Meaning there is no ''official'' sire or dam??

Do the images necessarily have to go in order? More specifically, I'm curious to know if learning to accept a halter/lead could come before weaning. :)

Bugging you again :D Would this be okay for the 'walking over an uneven surface' part? Nordy Uneven Surface

(does that mean it has to literally be unlevel, or can it just be something unfamiliar over the ground, even if its laid flat?)

That would be perfect. I assume it would be an unfamiliar object, such as a bridge, ramp, teeter totter, tarp, rocky surface, etc.

Honestly, I've never understood what "walking over an uneven surface" meant.

Awesome, thank you!

And yeah XD I figured it could be open to interpretation - ie, it had to be anything not flat (bridge, seesaw, half standing on a crate or tyre etc). Or it could be laid out flat, but had to be a strange or unfamiliar surface (tarp, bubble wrap, wooden planks or a mattress). I just wasn't sure, but if any of those work, then that's even better :)

For the mandatory 'learning to be led' image, can this show the horse in the first stages, when the cradling technique is used? Or does this have to be later on, when the foal is already leading from a halter? (I can link you to the image I've done, if that helps, as I wanted to depict the early days, as I see that less often). Thanks for any help :)

Edit: Second question - for the optional 'play time' would spending time in the field with the mother count for this? Again, I can link the image if necessary :)
