I think everybody has a similar problem when they work on creating a stable: new riders.

There are plenty of training courses for the horses, but who is going to train your green riders?  Equibreak has stepped up to the challenge and has created a rider's training course!  This course is open for everyone and anyone; all humanoid species are allowed, provided they are physically capable of riding a horse.

Just like the horse training course, the rider training program also requires five images.

MANDATORY TRAINING:
- Grooming
- Leading a horse
- Riding their first lesson
- Riding Alone
- Final: Discipline Training

Of course, there are many other things to do to train your riders.  While the possibilities are endless, we've listed a few suggestions below.

OPTIONAL TRAINING:
- On-horse games
- Voltige (Acrobatics on horseback)
- Learning the tack (Putting on a saddle, naming the parts of a bridle, etc.)
- Lunging the horse (This can count for both your horse and rider!)
- Trust Training (Build that bond with your rider's horse!)

Feel free to imagine anything that you think fits inside each category. Is your rider good at leading a horse? or does the horse run him over because he's too insecure? Or is there something that spooks the horse and does your rider have to calm him down? it's all possible!

The last image is the most important. Dress your rider up in his competition gear and throw him on that horse! The last image will also count as a show entry. How will your rider handle the pressure of a competition? will he do his round like he should? or is the pressure of succeeding so high that he forgets that one jump? You can draw your rider trotting over poles, cavaletti or even takin ghis first small jump? be sure to not make it too difficult for him, since he only just started making his way towards glory!

I've just a few questions as I'm planning on doing the rider and horse training course with a
horsie and her future rider (who has no true riding experience as well).

Can pictures that over cross both courses be counted for both?
Like for example 'Lunging the horse' and 'Being lunged' ? So the Lunging picture might count as mandatory pic for the horse and as extra picture for the rider?
Also the last mandatory picture 'Discipline Training' can that one be counted for both the rider and the horse?

Yes, that's completely fine :)
Just make sure it's clearly stated in the image description that it's for both courses and for which image in the course. Also, you would then submit the image to both the rider and horse training folder within the group.

Thank you for the fast reply.
Does that even work dA system wise? To submit something twice into a group into two different folders? :?:
As far as I know it doesn't or better once it has been accepted once it can't be accepted a second time.

That's a really good question. I'm not actually sure.

BUT if that doesn't work, you can send the group a note with the images and which folder they need to be in. Because we can copy images into more than one folder.

So, if you submitted them all into the rider training folders and then linked us with the images, we could copy them to the horse training folders.

Could we do it for re-training a rider who lost confidence?
Em used to be the main rider at my stable, but after an accident she's scared of horses - so I'm assuming she could learn to ride again?
And instead of the discipline training, maybe it could be her getting back on her own horse (who is pretty unpredictable) instead of the lesson one?

Just to confirm, if I have multiple horses and multiple riders in a scene doing different things it will count for both? Like ones going over poles and the others standing around like a group lesson? I had an idea for doing 3 to 4 horses in a scene having lessons like teaching handling and trailer work ect, and doing 5 images instead of 25?

You can combine riders in the same image as long as they are all doing the specific task (grooming, leading, etc.). I would say for the riding in a lesson image, you could have a froup lesson and it would be fine if there were riders standing around, as long as they were mounted. For the riding alone image, it's more of riding without assistance/instruction so a group image would be fine there as well :)

Ah okay :D I'll do separate images for the riding alone but group images will save me tons of times on backgrounds xD Because I hate doing them. ;-; I'm currently working on a halter training course 3 of my horses and riders are going through and two are standing around well with one freaking out going crazy, would that be ideal? ^^

For a grooming or leading image, if there are two riders in it, would the image count to both of them or just one?

as long as they are made exclusively for equibreak you may submit any image for the extra's :)
the ones we put up there are just a guideline! only the mandatory images thave to be done by the guidelines

Okay, thank you. And just to confirm, by "riding alone" is that "riding without any other human being present" or just "riding without somebody by the horses head/on the end of a lunge line"? Really sorry for the inane questions, just want to make sure I have everything correct before I get too far into planning.

If you have one for them, you are welcome to submit them to the references folder. However, they are not required as not everyone has references for the riders.

Hello! I'm currently getting ready to participate in the Kaimanawa-Challenge, and I was wondering if I could put my rider through this at the same time? These are the mandatory images for the challenge: fav.me/d9fklt3 and it might be able to fit. =D Such as the leading prompt here with the handling prompt there. Of course, some of the optional training here (such as the trust training and lunging) might come first, if course, just because how training wild horses can be. =)

You see, I have a story in my head for this challenge, and in this story the trainer of this wild horse won't know very much, and I thought it would be very fun if I could put him through this while going through the challenge. It would be extra incentive to get it all done. ^^;

If not, I understand. I was just curious. =)

That would be totally fine! only since there are 5 images required for the horse and one of those is a reference you would need an "extra" image for the rider that's not a reference.
like, you could maybe (you don't have too, it's just a thought) use the grooming as introduction, groundwork/handling as leading a horse, an extra image for a lesson and maybe instead of riding alone you could do a lunging image that also counts for the mishap? the final discipline training will be all fine ofcourse :)

so that would be totally fine ^^

There's no limit to the challenge's images, so I was actually going to draw a lot more than the mandatory drawings. I was going to start with the reference, do an intro picture, a trust bonding picture, a lunging picture, a leading picture, the grooming picture, then the Mishap (which will take a few more trust/lunging pictures/literature, because the Challenge is a story based thing and the main conflict is that my rider is scared after his horse freaks out and runs off with him), and after that he will get over his fears, he would learn the tack, get on the horse, and then get his first lesson, start riding alone, and finally he would train in his discipline and then go to the "competition" for these mandatory images. All in all it should be about 17 deviations, which is doable if there is more than 6 months of a deadline for the Challenge. =) Would this work?

great idea! but the risk of that is that after a while half the HARPG world will be licensed trainers xD so if I will work out that idea the requirements will be heavier then this course :P
